J. Smith discovered the healing benefit - mind, body and spirit of
creating fiber art and swimming after a work related injury left her
confined to a wheel chair more than ten years ago. Creating the fiber
art series "Swimming Upstream" not only healed her but tossed her into
championing the rights of individuals disabled on the job.
The exhibit runs October 7 - 24 at the Polk State College Arts Center, Lake Wales, Florida. Artist reception and talk is October 10, 2014, 5 - 7:00 PM. Gallery hours are Monday thru Friday 10 - 4 PM.
