Artslant Showcase Award for Marian Yap

Marian's painting, CINNABAR, has been selected as a Showcase Winner in ArtSlant’s 4th 2013 Showcase. This painting, one of the Haiku Threads series, is acrylic/mixed media on 24″ x 24″ gallery wrapped canvas. Cinnabar is a color that appears frequently in mostly Chinese objects, particularly furniture, and often in ceramics.
Marian writes about the Haiku Threads series of paintings,  "Using vintage thread from the days when my father worked as a milliner in New York City, and stitching through the canvas over collaged paper, I have created a series of paintings that express my haiku ideals of awareness of the moment and of simplicity."
